Freedom of Information Act

    The Freedom of Information Act is the Illinois statute that allows public access to records of a public body.  All records in custody and possession of Morgan County Health Department are presumed to be open to inspection and copying with limited exceptions.  Types of records include but not limited to:  inspection records,  statistical information and data, vital record data and preventative health and communicable disease statistics.
 
    Morgan County Health Department is a certified local public heath department established in 1922 by referendum. We employ 20 individuals on a full time basis. We are funded by a local tax levy, fee for services and state and federal grant money. Our fiscal budget is $1,255,708. We offer  public health programs ranging from the basic Environmental Heath programs to FCM, WIC, Family Planning, Hearing and Vision, Communicable Disease Surveillance & Investigation and Immunizations. We are also the Local Registrar of Vital Records for Morgan Co.
 
    The legislation of the new FOIA went into effect January 1, 2010.  Morgan County Health Department has designated the administrator, Dale Bainter as the Freedom of Information Officer for this department.  Any requests should be made in writing to Mr. Bainter and submitted by personal delivery, mail, fax, or other means available to the public body, including email.
